2017 Bush Poet Line up
A founding member of The Naked Poets Comedy Troupe, Marco’s mischievous sense of humour and contemporary Australian images and stories earned him the Spirit of Waltzing Matilda Award, presented by the late great Slim Dusty on behalf of ABC Radio National Australia. Also in 2008 the Australian Women’s Weekly voted Marco their modern Banjo.
From his Mr Whippy Classic, to comedy Race Calls, and hilarious community stories about Pole Dancing Stop and Go Sign Operators, to his more poignant poems and true life renditions about true crime and life shattering events, Marco is sure to impress those who love Australian Story Telling, verse and stand-up.
Marco has published 7 books and released numerous spoken word CD’s containing his original Australian Poetry.
Ray Essery is without doubt one of the most highly regarded performing Bush Poets in Australia today. Ray is unique and a genuine original. After arriving on the entertainment scene in the early 90’s Ray has worked hard at enhancing his natural abilities as a story teller by developing an ‘on stage’ persona that represents his life’s journey. This ‘North Coast’ poet can leave his audiences in stitches with hilarious tales that reflect his years as a dairy farmer, Navy man and Sydney pub manager. Likewise he can dig deep into the kitbag of his family memories to deliver heartfelt recollections of his early life, taking his audiences on a nostalgic journey back to a time when life on the North coast was just a little less complicated.
Neil McArthur – Bush Poet. Well more or less. But a writer and performer who uses the vehicle of traditional Aussie Rhyme and Meter to tell yarns about the contemporary life of the true Aussie Ratbags and Larrikins.
The illegitimate son of a depressed Circus Clown and a wayward onelegged Nun, Neil has been on the road for well over twenty years, with his sole mission being to use his collected Aussie yarns to put a grin on the dial of every Aussie he meets.
A regular performer and MC at Australia’s most popular Festivals, this Ratbag Of Rhyme tries his hardest to cause mayhem and halt the PC crusade infiltrating the country at present. Hold onto your Akubra, put your boots up and enjoy some real Aussie humour with Neil McArthur, the Ratbag Of Rhyme.
